LONDON MAKING NOW | Museum of London

MUSEUM OF LONDON, 150 LONDON WALL, LONDON EC2Y 5HN
OPENING 24 SEPTEMBER 2021

The Museum of London has acquired a new collection of contemporary works created by London based artists, including Eleanor Lakelin, which will form the basis of this new exhibition.

"London has always been a city where creativity and craft can flourish. For hundreds of years, London’s economy and culture have been linked by the process of making things. Craft has the power to affect society in unexpected ways, shaping everything from migration to social and political reform.

Today, the city continues to inspire skilled London makers, who produce incredible objects in materials ranging from porcelain to plastic. All of the objects in this display have a unique story to tell.

London Making Now is the result of a contemporary collecting project with objects acquired under the Art Fund’s ‘New Collecting Awards’ scheme. These new acquisitions will offer a visually stimulating insight into the world of craft and making in modern London; demonstrating how makers have shaped, and are shaped by, our city."
