FLOW AT 25 | Making Memories

FLOW GALLERY, 1-5 NEEDHAM RD, LONDON, W11 2RP
14 NOVEMBER 2024 - 15 JANUARY 2025

Eleanor Lakelin will present two new works in sequoia as part of this group exhibition - marking the 25th anniversary of Flow Gallery in London.

"For ‘Making Memories’ 20 artists who have been significant to Flow’s evolution will be participating in a group show. Some artists first showed with the gallery in its early years; others have brought new directions in recent times. Each artist has been commissioned to make new pieces specially for the exhibition, centred around the theme of Memory. Taking ideas of memory into their own direction and interpreting the theme in different mediums seeks to reflect the multitudinous ways in which we remember, reminisce and relive."

SOLO EXHIBITION | INTIMATIONS | Sarah Myerscough Gallery

SARAH MYERSCOUGH GALLERY, 34 NORTH ROW, LONDON, W1K 6DH
21 JUNE - 29 JULY 2024

This summer, Sarah Myerscough Gallery presents Eleanor Lakelin's second solo exhibition, titled Intimations. The show marks the evolution of a growing cast of experiments in Lakelin’s ongoing exploration of the vessel form. Born amidst the overgrowth of memory and matter, perennial themes of liminality, entropy, and classical order continue to underwrite the work’s otherworldly spirit. A deepening dialogue between machined form and the chaotic emergence of burr is staged between each piece. Together they animate a universal physics of inside and outside, or void and containment, synonymous with the rituals and symbolism historically poured in and out of one of civilisation’s oldest object forms.

Eleanor Lakelin is one of the featured artists in Nature / Nurture presented by Sarah Myerscough Gallery at Collect:

"These two ideas have been historically cast in binary opposition, an incompatible comparison between human influence and the natural world. The international artist-designer-makers included in this curated collection by turn embrace, problematise and re-conceptualise ideologies of sustainability and conscious sourcing to create beautifully crafted sculptural objects and wall-pieces in materials such as grasses, wood, jute, sisal, willow, and stoneware."

Artist in Wood, Eleanor Lakelin and Silversmith Adele Brereton live and work in Lewisham near Deptford Creek in South-East London. In their exhibition TIDELINES, they explore their mutual interest in the fragments of eroded objects and material they find on the Thames foreshore near their studios. As low tide reveals the layers of time, remnants of material connect us to the treasured objects, industries and lives of people who have shared this location for centuries. Both artists are interested in how fragments of the past can be used to create new narratives - how found textures and forms can be reinterpreted in wood and silver.
